Mrs. Sarver

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! My name is Chantel Sarver, and it is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Sumner Danbury Elementary School. I am honored to be in this position, and I look forward to working with Mrs. Hamlett and our Staff to make this a great school year. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you, so don’t hesitate to stop me before or after school and introduce yourself.

I come to you after an 18-year career working in Charter Oak Unified where I began my teaching experience at the high school, which was also my alma mater, working as a Resource Specialist for four years. I then transitioned to Glen Oak Elementary School (Covina) for the next four years as a Special Day Class instructor. Over the last 10 years, I have been teaching in the General Education setting as a 6th grade teacher.

I am a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona (BA ’99), and I earned my Master’s Degree in Education from the University of La Verne (‘02).  Additionally, I received my Educational Leadership Credential from the University of La Verne (Go Leos!).

My husband, Frank and I have two sons, Jake (15) and Ryan (11). They keep us extremely busy with their club soccer and travel baseball schedules. When I’m not at one of their games, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking locally, and staying fit with Crossfit.

At Sumner Danbury, we believe in ‘providing an atmosphere that will enable each child to develop a respect for the differences of others and nurture a sense of responsibility to the community and the environment.’ As the Assistant Principal, I will support our students academically, socially, and emotionally because I believe in the potential of each and every student. Additionally, I am looking forward to supporting the families and staff of Sumner Danbury. I believe in open communication and a strong home to school connection. Please feel free to contact me with any celebrations or concerns you may have. It is exciting to think about all that we will achieve working together. Let’s make this a great year!
