Happenings
Sumner Danbury’s PFA is excited to announce our 2nd annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser! We want ALL our students to develop a love of reading for enjoyment, knowledge, and adventure. This fundraiser will help fund our school’s assemblies, AR program, and class field trips while also supporting each student’s personal reading development.
How It Works
Make a pledge to support your student’s reading development and raise money for
Sumner Danbury. Students are encouraged to read for at least 20-30 minutes per day and
log their minutes on their Reading Log. Prizes will be given to the top readers and top earners in every grade!
Every day, beginning Tuesday, January 17th through Friday, January 27th students will read to support our school. Students will ask for pledges from family and friends to support their efforts. Sponsors can make a flat donation or donate per minute read. You can help us reach our goal of $10,000 by raising at least $25 per student. We understand that not everyone can give, so if
you can give more and raise more, please do!
Your Student’s Pledge Page
Starting January 14th you can visit https://app.99pledges.com/fund/sumnerdanburypfa/addme and follow the simple
registration steps. Create your student’s pledge page, make a donation for whatever
you can, and share the link with friends and family. No need to go door to door
collecting pledges. Your sponsors can donate online safely and at their convenience, all
you need is a phone number or email. Parents can even share on social media. We are
striving for 100% participation and no amount of donation is too small!
How to Make a Pledge
You can make a flat donation or donate per minute on your student’s donation page or you can make a flat donation to the Sumner Danbury general page. https://app.99pledges.com/fund/sumnerdanburypfa If you prefer to donate with a check, please make it payable to Sumner Danbury PFA and turn it into your teacher along with your reading log by Monday, January 30th. Please add Read-A-Thon in the memo line.
Reading Log Minutes read can be recorded on the attached Reading Log. Students can read books, magazines, newspapers, EPIC, etc. They can read to themselves or be read to. Reading may take place at home, at school, at the park, or under a tree. If you happen to read to someone who is also participating in Splash into Reading, it counts for both of you! Reading officially starts on Tuesday, January 17th, and ends on Friday, January 27th.. All Reading Logs must be returned to your student’s teacher by Monday, January 30th to be eligible for class and individual prizes.
